There are moments in your life where you manage to step outside the prop wash of day-to-day living. When you remember the dream that aimed you toward the sky. Your dream, the one you’d forgotten and set aside and wished for anew, is suddenly near. While you attended elsewhere, your dream has developed unremarked toward reality.
And you take that moment, free of the ground, and look around. Controls in hand, the pull of the wind echoing right down into your soul, you shout to the sky, “Look at us go!”
These authors, these writing companions so close they are one, are all amazed when they look down and see how far they’ve already climbed. And then they look up. They are filled with wonder at the size of the sky above.
Albert Einstein once said: “Out yonder there is this huge world, which exists independently of us human beings and which stands before us like a great eternal riddle. The contemplation of this world beckons like a liberation.”
We couldn’t agree more.

I earned my private pilot’s license long ago. As I started to work on my Commercial ticket (the one that let’s you fly for pay) I discovered I was partially red/green colorblind. Not enough that I couldn’t fly, but enough that my career as a pilot probably wasn’t going to happen. I hung up my license because it was far too expensive as a hobby, but I’ve always missed it. One Christmas, this little plane appeared under the tree. Someday, I hope to own that plane for real, and I will take to the skies and soar! For now, it flies above my writing desk, right where I look whenever I need to find new energy, new words, new hope. Look at us go!
